Retailers’ Ads Defy Webster’s Dictionary

These ads will make you do a doubletake because retailers have a funny way of defining commonly understood terms.

*MOUSE PRINT: Your idea of a “one day” sale may differ from theirs:

*MOUSE PRINT: Your idea of a “solution” to the crime problem may differ from a Washington state car dealer who is offering this giveaway with every new pickup truck purchased:

  1. Well Frank, I respectfully point out that I don’t see “political views” contained anywhere in this week’s Mouse Print, other than those that each reader may infer, or not. All I see are actual advertisements, with which one may agree with, or not.

But my personal view is: Stick to giving away toasters or tv’s. Better yet, let the vehicle sell itself.

  2. Better yet, when I’m buying a car save the money on trinkets and give me the absolute best price. Fine, if it is a $400 gun just give me $400 more off on the car and I’ll buy my own dang gun!

Not sure I understand the Macy’s ad, I know they want you to feel rushed and “I better buy it, it is one day only”, but to offer it for 5 days??? Then again, that’s ok, in another week or two there will be another “you better buy it now” ad.

  3. Maybe Macy’s can go for the nostalgia market by tying in with a ’70’s sitcom: “The One Day at a Time” Sale! Just think…trotting out Valerie Bertinelli, Bonnie Frankline, et. al. It could go on for weeks, months or even years!
    “By popular demand” of course.

  4. Actually I understand the 1st one. What they’re saying is that the items are not past their expiration date, which certainly can happen with stuff like that.
