When we buy nonstick cookware, many shoppers want the coating to last as long as possible. So manufacturers try to convince us of how durable their brand is.
In a website ad for Blue Diamond waffle plates for a its griddle, the company can’t seem to get its numbers straight.
First it says its diamond-infused coating delivers five times more strength and lasts 10 times longer.
Then it changes the numbers. Ten times longer wasn’t enough, so someone at the company probably suggested let’s say 50 times stronger and six times harder.
But then, there’s the old asterisk after those numbers. And the claims change again.
*MOUSE PRINT:
Lasts longer, more strength, more durable, harder… 5x, 10x, 6x, 50x… it almost feels like the company is pulling numbers out of thin air. And that makes their claims at least two times harder to believe.
This is a classic example of a company making things up.
They could have just added “up to” and all the numbers would have worked.
Use cast iron pans for durability. After they are properly seasoned, they are an essential pan in my kitchen. As they are used more and more often, food literally doesn’t stick, and they last forever.
Learn how to use, clean, and properly care for one. You won’t regret it. They truly do last a lifetime. And unlike other pans, they can be passed down.
None of the coating last forever. You can buy an expensive and may it will last three times longer or you can buy lower priced at 1/3 of the price and it will last 1/3 as long. With the lower price you will get a new shiny pan much fast and for the same price as you would have paid for the expensive pan.
They just keep increasing the made up number until they get the sales they want.
